Dec 05 - Dec 06   Christmas Under the Stars 2014

The 2014 Christmas season is upon us with festivities beginning Thursday December 4th around 6:30 p.m. with the Lighted Christmas Parade presented by Texas Rock Crusher Railway.

  The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and KTXS present the 6th Annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival Friday December 5th and Saturday December 6th at the Depot Plaza Complex and the Railroad Museum.

Funnel Cakes and hot chocolate are a few of the tasty treats to try while the kiddos build crosses and decorate Christmas ornaments, cookies, and pet food bowls.

 Glide around the ice skating rink then stroll to the Railroad Museum and experience Choo Choo Christmas.

  Start a new tradition and create lasting memories at the 6th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival Friday December 5th and Saturday December 6th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Dec 15   Harvey House Centennial Celebration
Celebration Day for Harvey House 100th Birthday
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Centennial Celebration  with a series of special events planned throughout the day.   
The building which sits next to the Depot was originally part of a chain of restaurants owned by the Fred Harvey Company.  The building now houses the Brownwood Chamber offices and the Gordon Wood Hall of Champions Museum."
The celebration day will feature tours of the building, the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and recently aquired Harvey Girl statue by artist Neil Logan, a book signing and a  showing of the documentary "Harvey Girls:  Opportunity Bound" at the Lyric Theatre.   The Turtle Restaurant in downtown Brownwood will also be offering a Harvey House menu during lunch and dinner. 
There are at least two Harvey Girls, who were waitresses of the time, scheduled to attend the event. These Harvey Girls worked in the Brownwood Harvey House during World War II.

Holiday at the Lake hosted by Lake Brownwood State Park

Come camp with us and bring your decorations with you!  We will be having a competition for the best decorated campsite.Judging will be at 6:00 and the winner will be announced at 7:00 at the Group Recreation Center.  The winner will get their campsite fees waived for the evening.  For visitors and overnight guests, at 7 p.m. there will be a campfire talk with a park ranger and Santa will make an appearance.  Kids can have their photo taken on Santa's lap and then decorate sugar cookies provided by the Friends of Lake Brownwood.  Hot chocolate will also be provided.
