You can register online at www.challengersports.com just search camps and Brownwood or you can attend the free practice May 19th at 6:30 at the complex and register there.  We strongly encourage all to attend the free practice to get a feel of what the camp is like.  Please go to their website wwwchallengersports.com to register for the free practice next week, Thursday, May 19th, so they know how many coaches to send.

Jul 1    Boat Parade
1st Annual Boat Parade Set for Friday at Lake Brownwood
In celebration of Independence Day weekend, a boat parade will be held at Lake Brownwood on Friday, July 1st.
The boat parade will begin at 8 PM and boats are asked to line up at the Lake Brownwood dam prior to the start of the parade.   Registration fee is $5 and entries can register at Wild Duck Marina in advance by calling 325-784-7100.
Boats are encouraged to be decorated during the parade in patriotic theme, and prizes will be awarded for some of the best decorated.    Any decorations that may impede visibility or normal navigation must be removed at the conclusion of the parade.

Jul 2    4th of July Fireworks Show hosted by Wild Duck Marina
The  annual Wild Duck Marina 4th of July bash--occurring on the 2nd!
Bands will perform 6 PM to dark. Fireworks show starts at 9:20 & band TBA will play from 10 PM to 1 AM.
Cost is 20.00 per person and all proceeds benefit the The Lake Brownwood Dam Volunteer Fire Department.

Jul 4    Riverfest- BBQ Cookoff and Raft Race @ Riverside park
The 2nd annual RiverFest will be held on July 4th at Brownwood's Riverside Park, and will also include various arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, Heartland Cruisers Car Show, barbecue cook-off sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbecue Society, 13 bounce houses for kids and much more. Entry fee into the event is $2 for children, and $3 for adults.

Raft Races
Chick-Fil-A has challenged you to a raft race at RiverFest 2016 on the Pecan Bayou!  
The Raft Race is open to both companies and individuals who are willing to build a raft and compete against Chick-Fil-A in a 100 meter race down the Pecan Bayou. Entry fee for the race is $25 and  will have three categories to choose from including single, double and group.  Prizes will be awarded for the fastest raft in each category, one for the best use of materials, and the Titanic award for the most dramatic sink.
Vendors
Vendor spaces are available for $50 for a 10 ft X 10 ft spot and electricity is available for $20. Completed applications should be returned with payment by June 27. No applications will be reviewed or accepted after this date. Electricity, and booth spaces, are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

The Brownwood Jaycees & Chick-Fil-A would like to invite you to take part in our second annual RiverFest Barbecue Cook-off sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbecue Society that will be held on July 3-4 at Riverside Park in Brownwood, Texas.

Brisket, Chicken & Ribs (No Baby Backs) ONE OR ALL for  $125 / 80% Payback to the top 3 winners in each category
Jackpot Beans $25 / 100% Payback to the top 3
Awards:
  • Brisket: 1st – 3rd Receive Money and awards. 4th-10th receive certificates.

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will host a welcome reception for newly hired Brownwood Police Chief Terry Nichols on Thursday, July 28th from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Depot Civic & Cultural Center located at 600 E. Depot Street in Brownwood.  The public is invited to attend the reception.

The reception will  be held in conjunction with the Chamber's Business to Business Showcase also being held at the Depot which will feature several businesses showcasing some of their goods and services.

Jul 30    H.O.T. Cyclists 100K
The H.O.T. Cyclists 100K Bicycle Race is coming to the Bangs Flamin' BBQ Cookoff and Red Hot Trade Days on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Distance options of 35K, 60K, and 100K are available on winding hill country roads of western Brown County. Ribbons in all distances with a trophy for the winner of the 100K race. Also special awards for King of the Mountain and Queen of the Mountain on the hill climb just outside Brookesmith. All racers will get a free fish fry lunch at the cook-off, along with showers available at the schools right after you ride. Come enjoy great bicycle racing and a great time at the cook-off and vendor booths! All proceeds will benefit local school scholarship funds.
