Apr 1    Harlem Ambassadors vs The Life Changers
Central Texas Opportunities, Inc. is hosting the Harlem Ambassadors for a community basketball event. This is an event families can enjoy together... laughter, comedy, slam dunks, high-flying hoops... all for a good cause. All funds raised from this event will go toward families achieving self-sufficiency throughout Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, McCulloch and Runnels counties. Offering a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball featuring high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks and hilarious comedy routines, the Harlem Ambassadors are a team of talented male and female basketball players that are drug-free, college-educated and positive in appearance. They are committed to giving their audience quality family entertainment and serving as positive role models for kids. A team of local celebrities -- men and women from our community -- will play against the Harlem Ambassadors and be part of the comedy.

Apr 7    Canines, Cats and Cabernet
The 11th annual Canines, Cats and Cabernet, which benefits the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center, will take place at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center on April 7. Many forms of entertainment, raffles, auctions and food and drinks will be available for all in attendance.
Guests will get to enjoy Las Vegas style fun during the night, as a casino will be setup beginning at 5:30 p.m.
A complete setup that features Blackjack, Poker, Slots, Craps, Roulette and just about anything else you can find at a casino. Each person who enters gets a chip that is worth 5,000 to play with. You use what you have at the end and apply them toward the prizes. People can also buy more chips if they please.
Other entertainment for the night includes live music by Debra Mathis, who sings and plays piano.
All you can eat food and drinks (beer and wine for those of age) will be served by the Brownwood Country Club, The Hideout, Steves' Deli, Cotton Patch Cafe, United Supermarket, Humphrey Pete's, Prima Pasta, Buffalo Wild Wings, Flour Power and Chocolateness.

4th Annual Boots & Bags Bingo at Aldersgate Enrichment Center in Early, Texas supporting the Heart of Texas Children's Advocacy Center and CASA in the Heart of Texas. Check in starts at 1 pm and Bingo starts at 2 pm. Tickets are $35 and includes 10 games and a bonus drawing. Prizes are designer purses and boots. You must be 18 years or older to play. This year's event will be a Mad Hatter Theme and will feature a "Mad" hat contest. Get an extra door prize ticket if you wear a hat. Daubers are $1 and extra bingo cards are $2. The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will host their Annual Chamber Banquet on April 13, 2017. The celebration will be held in the Brownwood Coliseum with the reception at 6:00 PM, dinner at 6:30 PM and the awards presentation slated to begin about 7:00 PM.
 
Community Service Awards will be presented during the banquet including Stuart Coleman Good Neighbors, Community Partner, Business of the Year, Man and Woman of the Year and the Groner Pitts "Lifetime of Service" Award.

This event is for the entire community of Brownwood and surrounding areas. It is to raise awareness for child abuse and how to prevent it. The admission is free for everyone. There will be games for the children to play information for parents as well as free food and entertainment. There will be a raffle drawing for the children and parents to win prizes, this is also free. At the end of the event we will have a small Easter egg hunt since it is the day before Easter. Different organizations and businesses throughout Brownwood will be setting up tables to give out their information and play games with the kids. If anyone would like to set up a table whom I have not contacted they can call me or email me and it is free of charge all we ask is you have a game for the children to play or something kid friendly.

Apr 29    Heroes Versus
The goal of Heroes Versus is to thank, compete, donate to and enjoy time with the local Brown County Heroes and all they have done for the community. This event will be a two-part CrossFit event that will be held in honor of the Brown County heroes, Such as, Firemen, Policemen, Military and Medicine. The first part will be open to the public. (For anyone wanting to test their mettle against one of the three base line army exams.) This will start the event then we will transition into the competition where teams of 4 will compete in 3 different workouts to crown the Heroes Versus champion.
