The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and the America's Small Business Development Center are offering a business workshop regarding workplace safety on February 1st from 11:30 am -1:00 pm at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.
Topics covered in this workshop will include learning OSHA required written programs, identifying and eliminating occupational hazards in the workplace, required plans and programs, how to report an injury, top 10 OSHA findings, and much more.
The presentation will be given as part of the Occupational Safety and Health Consultation (OSHCON) program through the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers' Compensation.
There is no cost for Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce members. Non-member fee is $10. Attendees may bring a lunch.

In addition to the art exhibit, the Stars of Texas is sponsoring demonstrations weekdays in the depot ballroom by 3 working artists in a variety of media. | As a non-profit, we are always struggling to pay our Garden Coordinator, Daniel Graham. The Community Garden has 64 raised beds (3 feet by 20 feet). Thirty-four of the beds are what we call pantry beds. The food grown in these beds is donated to food pantries and local groups that feed people in need. We believe that all people should have access to fresh, naturally grown foods. The other 30 beds are available for citizens to lease. By leasing a bed, the gardener has a well-maintained bed with irrigation along with people to help with their gardening questions. This is what makes this garden a Community Garden. It is a resource for anyone and everyone. Without a Garden Coordinator, the Community Garden would cease to exist in Brownwood. So, we are calling on YOU to help us with a donation to keep the Community Garden Going and Growing. |

| Feb 20 2018 Economic Summit |
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 2018 Economic Summit. The event will feature Texas State Demographer Dr. Lloyd Potter as the keynote speaker. The summit will be held on Tuesday, February 20th at Howard Payne University's Bullion Suites in the HPU Mabee Center from 8:00 AM to 11 AM.
Lloyd Potter was appointed State Demographer on June 4, 2010. He is a professor in the Department of Demography at The University of Texas at San Antonio where he also serves as the director of the Institute for Demographic and Socioeconomic Research (IDSER). He has extensive experience working as an applied demographer in several settings.
Dr. Potter will outline current demographic and population trends in the state of Texas and specifically Brown County and how they may impact the economic future.
U.S. Congressman Mike Conaway will also make a presentation that will outline the current economic state of the federal government and how that may impact business locally.
Also speaking at the event will be Guy Andrews, Executive Director of the Brownwood Municipal Development District and a representative from the Heartland Association of Realtors. The speakers will give an in-depth look at the local and state economy regarding sales tax, employment statistics, the real estate market, current trends and more.

The association has continued to serve the officers and employees of the department and community since it was first established in 1957.
